On top of this, I created a Moodle site for my UMD Seminar section. Prior to that, we were using the generic student resources site created for all sections, but that was cumbersome and confusing for students to navigate. They were excited about our class site and are now much more enthusiastic about using it.
Triumph of technology as totally useful tools!
Awesome Danny! Isn't it funny how suddenly you reach a point where a new technology becomes intuitive when you go to use it when it had previously been much more trying? I'm sure there is some sort of educational psychology term that I'm unfamiliar with for this type of "learning" moment. . . Amy B

ReplyDeleteWow, 12 hours! Great to hear! I have spent some time in Moodle for my final project but feel like I could use some more practice....
ReplyDeleteWebCT used to be my greatest love but then Helen introduced me to Moodle many years ago and I have been in love with it ever since. It has a few little things that are irritating but for the most part it is awesome. The instructor guides are super helpful.
ReplyDeleteSo glad it worked for you to do your own section Danny, and that you have broken through the Moodle wall so that you feel comfortable using it. I think it helps a lot when you design your own site (as opposed to using a shared one) because then it makes more sense to you.
ReplyDeleteI like your "threshold" comment. It is true; one does not know the tool until one crosses the threshold. I suppose we can now refer to you as a Moodle Native?!
